North Little Rock Passes Ordinance to Allow Food Trucks

North Little Rock Passes Ordinance to Allow Food Trucks The city of North Little Rock will finally allow food trucks starting this Friday. It is a move that was long overdue and will likely make a dramatic impact to the food scene in North Little Rock. The new ordinance amends the North Little Rock municipal code to allow mobile food vendors (i.e. food trucks) to operate within the city paving the way to allow operations once the ordinance is posted which should come no later than Friday (June 5th). “The City Council heard that our requirement process for food trucks could be more streamlined so we made it happen, because we always support small businesses,” North Little Rock Mayor Joe Smith tells us. “We want everyone to enjoy all the delicious offerings these food entrepreneurs will bring to our community, and feel free to walk off those meals on our beautiful downtown River Trail.” To read the full article By Greg Henderson from Rock City Eats, click HERE.

Historic Lynch Apartments Being Leased

Historic Lynch Apartments Being Leased The Historic Lynch Apartments, at 523 Orange Street in Argenta, were built in 1926 and now these beautifully restored apartment homes are being leased. Dakota Development purchased the Apartments in the Spring of 2014. Impressed with the history of the building, Lawrence Finn and Steve Gardner, the principals of Dakota Development, strove to restore the building to its former glory using as many of the original details and fixtures as possible. Argenta legend has it that the Lynch Apartments were also the source of premier moonshine whiskey back in the day. Read more about this on their website at lynchapts.com. Area Among Top 50 Bike-Friendly Bicycling Magazine includes Little Rock/North Little Rock as 49th on its list of the Top 50 Bike-Friendly Cities in the U.S. The list, which only considers cities with populations of 100,000 or more, bases its selection on the availability of segregated bike lanes, municipal bike racks and bike boulevards, to name a few. Cities must also support a vibrant and diverse bike culture and must have smart, savvy bike shops. "The [Little Rock] city center needs work, but neighboring North Little Rock boasts the longest bicycle-pedestrian bridge in the world," says the magazine. No. 1 on Bicycling's list is Minneapolis, Minn., followed by Portland, Ore. and Boulder, Colo.
